As the younger cousin of Fabio Wibmer, Gabe is surrounded by talent. Using the skills he learnt in motocross as a kid, he’s now pursuing speed using his own engine. You’ll find him racing downhill world cups as well as entertaining his millions of fans on YouTube.

- What's your warm-up routine before a race?
- Everytime when I leave the pit for my racerun I get a fist pump of my dad, which means everything is ready to send – not really a warm-up routine but it’s part of the routine haha! My warm-up routine is quiet special I’d say. To start with, I always try to just focus on myself and clearly remember the track from top to bottom. After my little ,,brain” warm-up, I start to warm up my body with stretching and multiple exercises without the bike. Here comes the difference between most of the other riders. To get a feeling for the bike, I’m doing multiple Trial tricks and jibbs to warm up every single muscle in my body. It really helps me, to get a real good feeling for the start, even though it might be strange seeing someone doing backwheel hops around the start area haha!

- What's the dumbest way you've injured yourself?
- I once rode a scooter and wanted to do a tailwhip during my training break – well, that’s how I torn my ankle ligament the second time within 1 month.
- What’s your favourite training ride?
- My local bikepark is the dream at the moment.
- Training in the gym or training on the bike?
- I really prefer training on the bike because it’s way more fun for me, even though training in the gym is super important....they said
- Street or park?
- Street is my love at the moment
- Dirt Jumps or freeride?
- Dirtjumps in the morning – Freeride in the afternoon
- 24, 26, 27.5", 29er or mullet?
- It really depends: I love mullet for proper Downhill action but for freeride tricks I’d prefer 27.5”.
Confidence is key!
- Would you rather old school geometry with modern suspension or old school suspension and modern geometry?
- Probably old school geometry as I think it’s still faster than with old school suspension. Probably a good time to actually make a video about it, right?
- Would you rather come first with a run you weren’t happy with or come second knowing you left everything on the course?
- I’d definitely prefer to become first with a run I weren’t happy because it’s a win win situation. On the one hand you have won the race and on the other hand you know, you could go even faster with a good run. Even if you’re not happy with your run, your still faster than anyone else which gives you probably a lot more confidence for the next race to do it even better.
- How do you remain calm before a race or hitting a big feature?
- It’s probably because I can 100% rely on myself and give my best when it counts. Of course everyone makes mistakes but it’s definitely a big mental game out there, that’s for sure. Confidence is the key!
- Goals for the year ahead:
- I’m working on some really special tricks at the moment which I want to send in my next video Projects. Another goal is to make progress in terms of filming and editing, which means to be not afraid to try something new and not known yet. And of course not to forget to enjoy life.
